Applied with the leverage theory of Eugene F. Brigham (1991), the study analyses capital structure of fishery farms in Tra Vinh province. With a sample of 310 farms, the results show that land value contributed the largest part of fishery farm’s capital, followed by loans. Debt ratio of higher than 40% was found in about 30% of farms. The results also consistent with the leverage theory in the sense that farms with higher debt ratio faces higher risk, especially for those with debt ratio of higher 80%.
Regression analysis also shows that some socio-economic variables can have impact on fishery farm’s capital structure, which has been found in other several studies in the world.
