Phân tích một số yếu tố ảnh hưởng đến hiệu quả kinh tế của các hộ nuôi cá Lăng nha (Mystus wyckioides) nuôi bè tại Đồng bằng sông Cửu Long

To investigate determinants of production and profitability of red-tail catfish cage farming in the Mekong Delta, this study has interviewed 75 farmers in Mekong Delta in 2012. With the average  size  of  cage  of  153,92  m3 and  the  average  stocking  density  of  97,40  fish/m3,  the farmers achieved a productivity of 45,49 kg/m3 in average. Spending total cost of 3.585.230 VND/m3 in average, they earned an average  income of 3.795.800 VND/m3 and an average profit of 210.568,81 VND/m3. A multiple regression showed that  yield and profitability of this farming were affected by factors such as stocking density, feed cost, disease prevention and treatment costs, culture time and size of fish at harvest. However, 38,67% of interviewed farmers reported that they had got loss in red-tail catfish farming. The main reasons of the loss included the unstability of market, disease, quality of fingerling and the lack of capital. Some solutions to be recommended is: i) improving seed supply capacity to provide better quanlity fingerling,  ii)  promoting  studies  on  nutrition  and  desease  in  red-tail  catfish,  iii)  providing technical training on disease treatment and prevention for red-tail catfish and iv) studying on value added products to expand market and marketing channels.
